Another thing that was not on our itinerary was that our daily guides would each take us to a handicrafts bazaar. The Nirula Handicrafts Bazar specializes in "Persian" style silk, hand-woven rugs made in Kashmir.
Be warned: They are GOOD salesmen! I had always wanted one of these rugs as I think they are beautiful works of art, but I wasn't planning on buying the most expensive souvenir of my life this day. Once we chose our rug, I signed my name on it so once it would be delivered to our home in Mumbai I would know it was my rug! The rug is now home and in Noé and Ali's room. It is beautiful, but I have major guilt as the money used to purchase it could have been a semester's tuition at BYU for one of our kids, gulp.
