Hockey Smile

Ali lost her first front tooth and the Tooth Fairy brought her $1.

I asked her what she wanted to buy with it and she said a cheeseburger, ha!

I told her cheeseburgers from Burger King cost $2, so she'd have to save her money.  It didn't take long (less than a week) for her other front tooth to fall out.

The Tooth Fairy brought her another $1.

When I told her we could go get a cheeseburger.

She changed her mind and wanted a Kit Kat and Reese's instead, ha!
She's a goof, and I love that she is!

How does God speak to you?

Lately, I have been trying to figure out how God speaks to me.  I know He speaks to me through the scriptures.  I know He speaks to me through the modern-day prophets and apostles.  In a quirky way, I also think sometimes He speaks to me through Pinterest quotes.  I felt this when we decided to leave India, and I felt this when we got Macy's Down syndrome diagnosis.  After the loss of my twin pregnancy, I had been seriously contemplating adoption again (this is the 4th time in our married life, I also thought about it before I was married).

On April 28th, I had the feeling I should take out the adoption application that we got from The Children's Aid Society back in the summer of 2019.  I had taken this packet out of my nightstand drawer several times, but was never ready to read it and fill it out.  This time I thought, just take one step at a time.  Just start reading it.

Before the day was over, I had read the whole thing, filled out all of the application that I could, and asked Leonard to fill out the parts that were required from him, and he did.

The next day, we reached out to loved ones asking if they would be a character reference for us.

Over the weekend, I fasted asking God if we should submit our application.  On Monday morning (our anniversary), I had the thought to check my Pinterest board and see what quotes I had recently posted.  These 10 seemed to be shouting at me.

After our lunch date, Leonard and I went to CAS and submitted our application.  Our paperwork said it would take 2-3 weeks to review it.  A week after we dropped it off, we got an email that it will take 4-5 months to review it.  If our application is approved, then comes the real work of the home study and 27 hour adoption training.  I am usually very anxious, but I feel calm about this.  If we are meant to adopt it will work out.  If not, then I'll know that we tried every single thing that we could to bring another child into our family and will be able to move on in peace.  But of course, I'm hoping we will be blessed with one more child!

Lunch Date

Leonard took the day off work, so we could celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary!  Kaleb babysat for us, so we could have a lunch date.

The Nando's in our neighborhood closed down (so sad), so we drove across town to have it.  So grateful to have it here in Canada all the way from Mozambique!

Of course, we couldn't eat inside, so we ate in our van.
I could eat peri peri chicken every. single. day!

We also got some natas (Portuguese egg tarts).  We actually got 7, so we could each have one, and we could take one home for each of the kids.

Happy Anniversary Leonard!  I love you with all that I am!

The Little Empress

Our little Empress got a new ride.

She does not like her hat though.

I'm taking it off!

That's better!  No hat for me or Dad.

Look at those smiles.

And she likes it in the great outdoors!

It's May!

May brings sunshine!  And with that sunshine comes flowers, birds, and butterflies!

It's also the month of our anniversary, Mother's Day, Ali's birthday, and Victoria/Memorial Day (depending on which country we're in).  Plus, I get to enjoy this spot of "purple" for a month.

I love it when the grass is vibrant green again.

Our backyard neighbors' house is coming along!

24 Years in 25 Photos

Today is Leonard's and my 24th wedding anniversary!  I've said this many times, but it's true- time flies when you're having fun!
Watch how our family has grown and my hairstyles have changed.  It looks like Leonard has had many wives, ha ha.  Only one wife for him allowed!
I was trained well by my parents to have professional family photos taken every year.  So even though we had engagement photos and wedding photos, we still had a family photo taken in 1997.

(Wish I could go back and get a color version as well, how did we live before the digital era?)

We'll have to do a compilation photo in 2022 as Kaleb will be in Mozambique.
I've said this many times too, but I'm so grateful for this family I have been blessed with!
Happy anniversary Leonard, I love you with my whole heart!!
