On Monday evening, Leonard told me of this amazing contest- to write a letter with a $25 fee and you could win a gorgeous house in his native Alberta! I sat down that night and started writing my letter. Tuesday evening, we celebrated Macy's birthday. Wednesday evening, I finished my letter and sent it off. Here's hoping we might win! My husband and I learned of the contest for your home and we can't get it out of our thoughts. Moving to this lakefront dream house would change our lives in three significant ways.
We have seven children ranging in age from 16 year-old twins to our one year-old baby. Our lives would change immensely by living in a home that has more space for our big group. As important as the inside space, is the outside space. We live in a big city with a tiny backyard. It would be so amazing to live near the lake and foothills under the beautiful blue Alberta sky, so our kids could get out into nature!
My husband is originally from Hanna, Alberta and I am from Las Vegas, Nevada, but we are currently living in Ottawa, Ontario. When we first moved away over 16 years ago, our plan was to visit family every year. As our family grew, our trips decreased to every two, and now every three years. Our lives would change tremendously if our kids could get a chance to know their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins much better!
In 2016, our family moved to India (work assignment). While there, I became pregnant with our seventh child. When we learned our new daughter would have Down syndrome and a heart defect requiring open-heart surgery, we moved back to Canada. During the return, most of our household belongings became infested with mold and had to be thrown away- all of our books, children's toys, home decor, and the saddest- photos and scrapbooks. We also discovered that our tenants caused unexpected damage to our house, requiring expensive renovations for our family to live in it again. We have felt like we lost our sense of “home”. Our lives would change remarkably if we could settle into a new house and find home again. We have longed to establish “New Eden” for our family and living in this lakefront dream house would allow us to do that!
