Gateway to Paradise

On the 20th we flew from Taipei to Bangkok and then on to Phuket. We arrived in the evening and went straight to the Marriott. We unpacked, got settled in to our home for the next week, and just relaxed. The next day Papa, Len, & Kris went grocery shopping, so mom & I took the kids down to the pool to swim. When they got back Gavin was napping, and Papa wanted to rest too (he just had hernia surgery 2 weeks before), so the rest of us headed out to check out Mai Khao beach. I can now say I've been in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans!

A model of the traditional Thai home.

There was a coconut that kept getting pushed around each time the waves came rolling in. He kind of reminded me of Wilson from "Castaway."

I was snapping pictures of the beautiful scenery when I turned around and was nose to trunk with a man and his baby elephant. I couldn't believe it! They had just come out to take a swim.

It's not everyday you get to play with an elephant at the beach!

Never mind my wind-blown hair, I'm in heaven with my honey.
