In my fantasy, this is my dream house- 24 Sussex Drive. Not bad, eh?
This is the view from the backyard. Again I say, not bad, eh? This is actually the Prime Minister of Canada's residence, so we won't be living there anytime soon, but it is fun to dream about, right?
Actually, in my reality, you can see pics of my dream home at Creative Pursuits.

Dream House
Behind Again
So I just uploaded 411 pictures off my camera, from the last 19 days!! Yes, I take A LOT of pictures. I just need to be better at putting them on my blog and then making my blurb books- ugh! Anyway, here's a sneak peek to some future posts:

Happy Mother's Day!
My friend Bev sent me a link to this video My New Life. It touched me and I wanted to share it with all the amazing mothers I know. I'm so grateful for my own and so grateful to be one myself!

Lucky 13
Today marks 13 years of wedded bliss to my super hero! We had a pre-celebration last Friday night, with a...
Actually, we opted not to see the movie, as I knew I would fall asleep (but I would like to see it someday).
Instead we went downtown to the Byward Market area.
More specifically, to Clarence Street. Being downtown is quite the experience, there's the lively urbanites on one hand, and the interesting (hmm mm SCARY) street people. Gotta love seeing these stores in a row: Hi Ways (sells marijuana paraphernalia), Top of the World (graffiti art supplier), Sacred Art (tattoo parlor), and the Church of Scientology (Tom Cruise, enough said).

First Heartbreak
Kaleb has had a special "girl" friend every year at school. This year has been no different and he and Michelle have been so close, that their friends nicknamed them Ketchup & Mustard (since they were always together.)
Michelle's family is from Korea and unfortunately, they are moving back next Tuesday, so today was her last day at school. I knew Kaleb would have a hard day, but I was trying to keep him positive with the fact that they can keep in touch with e-mails, etc.
When he got from school, the poor boy just wailed and wailed. His little heart is broken that his best friend is moving away. I wish I could fix his heart ache, but the only thing that can do that is time.
Who knows, maybe their paths will cross again someday.

Annie

Last night I took Kaleb and Noe to see a high school rendition of the musical, Annie. One of my Young Women was in it, as well as a few other youth acting, in the orchestra, and in the backstage crew. It was introduced as the school's first musical performance and they did a great job! Some of the kids were very talented with the whole singing, dancing, acting thing and the orchestra wasn't bad either. Afterwards I asked the kids if they had a chance to be in Annie what would they like to do- act, play music, sing, dance? Kaleb said he'd want to play Daddy Warbucks, while Noe said she'd want to play Grace Ferrell (Daddy Warbucks' assistant/girlfriend). I'm glad my kids like going to the theater with me. I can't wait to watch them up on the stage someday.
The F Bomb

Yesterday while I was preparing dinner, Kaleb and Noe were doing artwork at the kitchen table. I overheard part of their conversation about the 2 "F" words. So then I ask them, "What are the 2 "F" words?" Noe then acted out the first one and says F A R T (yes, she has a little crazy in her). I agreed that yes, that is not a nice word (it always makes me cringe) and then I asked what the second "F" word was. Without shame, Noe replies F @ # K just as casually as if she said DUCK.
So how do I handle this teaching situation with maturity? I bust up laughing. Oh, great! I finally get my composure and tell her and Kaleb, that even though I laughed that is NOT a funny word. I told them usually when someone says that word they'd get their mouth washed out with soap or could even get slapped (not from me, but it's a good way to turn a friend into an enemy). They then asked what the word meant. This parenting thing is tough. How do you explain that one? I just said it is the worst word you could ever say to anyone and I hope to never hear either one of them say it again.
The kids said they heard their classmates using it, so I told them that next time they can ask their friends not to use that language around them. Kaleb said he did (brave boy!), but that they just kept saying it anyway. I reminded them that next time if their friends don't stop talking like that they can walk away and find someone else to play with.
Kaleb and Noe then confessed that they know what the "S" word is. I asked Noe to come and whisper it in my ear. She complied and said STUPID. Oh bless her heart, I hope they can avoid the rest of those ugly words for at least another week. Gotta love public school!

I Wanna Be A Rockstar!
All dressed-up to go and see...
...Nickelback! I've been a fan since I first heard, "How You Remind Me" on the radio back in 2001. What's cool though is that my husband is from Hanna, Alberta too and yeah, he went to high school with Chad Kroeger.

All of Len's bros have seen the band multiple times, and I love the darling pictures of my nieces and nephews with them. I really wanted a picture of my kids with them, but unfortunately they have not had that privilege yet...

...but I have! (Erika, did you see me with my best friend? Love you!) Mike Kroeger is so awesome and hooked us up with backstage Meet & Greet passes and upgraded our tickets from the nosebleeds to the front row. Thanks so much Mike! I was a bit shy meeting the band. I mean, I already thought they were cute from posters, but seeing them in real-life, they are SUPER cute! Don't worry, I still think Len is the cutest. Len reminded Chad of a time when he was walking home with Jennifer Marshall and they ran into Chad coming home from band practice with his electric guitar. They all went over to another friend's house and asked Chad to play for them. Chad reminded them that he couldn't since he didn't have an amp. However, he had an idea to play into the kitchen cupboards for amplification and it worked- clever boy! Then Chad reminded Len of all the times Len helped him (cheat) with his homework-naughty boy. They were all really nice, but of course this whole convo lasted about a minute and a half.

Bunny Ears
I love being in Canada for Easter- 4 day weekend, baby! Yes, everyone gets Good Friday and Easter Monday off and it's fabulous! It's been fun getting our old holiday decorations out of storage since we've been back, but it's also fun finding new decor for a bargain!
On Friday, we just did some random chores around the house- put together the last bookcase, hung some shelves, put the fabric back on the gazebo, and Kaleb baked this darling Easter cake. He was so cute and left a piece for the Easter Bunny that night.
Saturday morning the kids were so excited to find their Easter basket filled with some candy, books, bunnies, and their own bunny ears. (I think my new nickname should be Dollarama Mama! I SO love that store!)
Of course, I had to get the kids' pics with their baskets. Gavin and Teague wouldn't cooperate on the couch- so I found a new spot for them, on the half-wall. There's nothing like the fear of falling to make you sit still. (Actually, Len was right behind them holding their waists, but it still helped them not to struggle.)
We had some fun activities too- decorated a Bunny Hutch.
Colored some Easter eggs.
And we had an Easter Egg hunt with our sweet neighbors. Bailey found purple, Noe pink, Kelsey yellow, Kaleb blue, and they all found the green and orange ones for Gavin and Teague who decided to take a nap instead.
Sunday morning our plan was to get dressed up in our Easter clothes and head over to the chapel to watch General Conference. Unfortunately, Len and Gavin had to make a trip to the Emergency Room. Long story short, Gavin's right ear drum ruptured from an unknown ear infection, then I punctured his left ear drum with a Q-tip. (Yep, I win "Bad Mom of the Year" award- it was just so sad!) After they got back, Gavin was feeling much better (and both of his ears will be fine, thank goodness!) so we had a special Easter Family Home Evening on the Savior followed by a Ham feast with all the trimmings- mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, deviled eggs, rolls, banana cream pie, and sparkling peach cider. The holiday meals are always sad for me without our extened family with us. I've got to get better at inviting friends over- my problem is I want to invite them all and our house is too small for that. I guess, it's a blessing we have so many friends!
We got dressed up in our Easter clothes this past Sunday and snapped a few pics. Teague and Gavin didn't want to cooperate again. Thanks Gramma and Grampa for the beautiful clothes!
On Easter Monday we organized the storage rooms in our basement. We're taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back, but we're slowly getting settled.
