Summer Science

Do you know what this is?

How about now?

Every two weeks, when my Jenny Craig food arrives, we use the dry ice it's packed in to play scientists in the kitchen.

Do you notice anything different?

The food coloring is mixing with the water to make our iceberg up in the Arctic circle.

Science projects can be so fun!

Bathing Beauties

These little girls were having so much fun splashing in the tub together and laughing their heads off, that I had to go and grab the camera.

They love the water so much, I think they may be part mermaid!

Work and Play in the Backyard

Len was going to teach Macy how to work in the backyard.

She wanted to teach him how to play there!

The big kids had fun splashing in the water table and watering the grass.

It's so nice now that all the yards have sod laid.

Macy ventured out on the grass for a bit too.

I would love it if we turned our backyards into a communal garden like in Notting Hill. One neighbor has already fenced their yard though and once we get the green light from the city that all the drainage issues are good we'll be putting up a fence too. Our green space is little, but I'm still glad we have some!

Slumber Party Season

The kids know that as soon as school's out, they can have a slumber party every night of summer. Gavin has out grown it, as he realizes it is much more comfy to sleep in a real bed; Teague, Hiram, and Ali still love it though.

Macy still prefers to sleep in her bed.

Or on the stairs.

Seriously, who falls asleep while crawling up the stairs? Sweet girl!

We have two sectionals, but they like sharing one.

This time Macy fell asleep on the hard wood floor.

The kids use all the couch cushions, a ton of blankets and pillows, and every stuffy we own to make their bed each night. The only rule is to clean it all up each morning!

This time she was too tired to finish lunch.

It's so tiring being so adorable!

13th Annual Ice Cream for Dinner

On the last day of school, we had ice cream for dinner! We started this tradition when Kaleb and Noé finished 1st grade. I can't believe how fast time has gone!

We loaded up our sundaes with ice cream, bananas,

caramel sauce,

crushed Butterfinger bars, chocolate chips, a variety of sprinkles,

plus whip cream, nuts, and a cherry!

Macy decided she was too tired to have ice cream for dinner. She was screaming for ice cream!

The kids also got their year-end gifts. They each got new summer clothes, DVDs, stuffies (from the Wildes). The family also got new sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and sponges for water fights. Macy got a new shape sorter and some new books. We also watched the movie Over The Moon. We're so excited to start summer vacation!

1/2 way through the MTC

Elder Reil celebrated being half-way through his missionary training by wearing a half tie that day.

His whole district did!

Finished Freshman Year

Noé finished spring term and her freshman year of university.

She and her good friend, Sayge, jumped for joy!

Now its time for dates,

and time for the beach!

8th Grade Grad

I'll admit, I thought it was silly when Kaleb and Noé had an 8th grade graduation from elementary school. However, since Covid cancelled their 12th grade grad, I'm glad they had the 8th grade one after all.

This year, Gavin's 8th grade grad from middle school was also cancelled thanks to Covid. The 8th graders got to go to campus to clean out their lockers and say goodbye to their teachers though. Here's hoping in 4 years, Covid will be gone and Gavin will get a 12th grade graduation!

Elementary Break

These two were at elementary school together this year, and will both be returning next year.

We visited their campus to clean out their lockers and say goodbye to their teachers.

They had a staggered start in September, which had them all in school 2 weeks later than usual. The 2 week Christmas break turned into a 6 week break. Their spring break in March got pushed forward to April. After that they never went back to in-person learning, but had the last 10 weeks online.

Here's hoping that after a wonderful summer break, they'll get to spend all of the next school year in person!

Preschool Parade

We started our end-of-year school goodbyes by going to Teague's school for him to clean out his locker. (See Donuts and Ring Pops for that event.) Every school activity was carefully timed to have limited numbers of students there. Shortly after Teague's farewell, was Macy's farewell, so he got to come along for the ride.
