Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Make your way to platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross station to take the train to...

...Hogwarts!

Or at least to Gavin's Hogwarts-themed birthday party!

Gotta love having your regular home decor, with Christmas decor, birthday decor, and Hogwarts decor all melded together, ha ha!
I did a Hogwarts party for Kaleb and Noé when they turned 11.  I was secretly (or not-so-secretly) hoping that all of my kids would let me throw them a Hogwarts party.  Last year, when Gavin turned 11 we moved back into our house after living in an AirBnB for 5 weeks while our home was repaired from the damage caused by our tenants while we were living in India.  Gavin wasn't interested in a Hogwarts party, and honestly I wasn't up to throwing one either.  Luckily, this year he was!  I hope as the rest of my kiddos turn 11, they'll want a Hogwarts party too.

The house ties all ready for the students to arrive.

The wands getting ready to choose the wizards.

Colorful ingredients for our potions class to make a witch's rainbow.

The students arrived and wore the sorting hat to get assigned to their houses and were issued their house ties.

Next, the young wizards and witches painted their wands.  They had classes for house-elf training, potions, and divination.

Extra credit for their divination class was to play BeanBoozled with Bertie Botts every flavor beans.  I know 10 of the flavors are quite tasty, but the risk of getting 10 of the nasty flavors was too much for me.  The kids LOVED it though and kept going back for more, ew gross!

Time for lunch!  The menu was cauldron pies, troll eyes, carrots, cucumbers, and peppers.

With delicious pumpkin juice to wash it all down with.

And of course, cupcakes!

Happy Birthday to you!

Gavin was spoiled with lovely gifts...

...and he gave each student a pack of Drooble's best blowing gum as a thank you.

This young wizard had a great day at school!

Two days later on his actual birthday, he brought cookies to his muggle school to share with his classmates and teachers there.  We also had a birthday cake at home...

...and more gift opening...

...and card opening.
Gavin definitely had a magical 12th birthday!
