Ottawa has 4 tax-funded school boards: English Public, English Catholic, French Public, and French Catholic. Our kids had been in the English Public before, but we thought we'd try the English Catholic board this time. Len and I went to the school (that is across the street from our house and starts and ends 45 minutes later than the English Public board) and got them all registered. We then took the kids on a tour of the school and they got to meet all of their new teachers. Unfortunately, the night before they were to start school the Principal called us to tell us they would be moving Gavin up to 6th grade and Hiram up to 1st grade as they have birthdays in the fall (here the deadline is December 31st). We did not feel like this was in the best interest of our children, so we decided to re-enroll them at the English Public school they attended previously. It's been great because Gavin has one of Kaleb and Noé's favorite teachers, Teague has a new teacher, and Hiram has our all-time favorite teacher that all 5 of my school kids have now had. It's nice returning to a place where we are loved!
I love that Ali keeps up with her big brothers!
But I'm so glad she's not a school girl yet!
My kids wore shorts and sandals the entire time they went to school in Nevada. The climate's a little different here, so the dress code is as well- thick coats with hoods and neck warmers, snow pants, gloves, and boots are a must!!
