Kaleb and Noé got to go on another 5-day field trip for school.
This time they went to Chennai to learn from local artists.
They ate very well while they were gone. I want one of those chocolate waffles!!
Kaleb learned bookmaking from Benitha Perciyal.
He will use his book to create sketches from India.
He also learned indigo dying from Gurunathan Govindan.
Noé learned acrylic sculpture from Baalaa R.
There was also a 4th artist, Mohanram T. who is a temple sculptor.
Kaleb took this photo of Ali and it makes me think of the first novel Kaleb and Noé read in their English class this year- The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. It was a bizarre story where the main character's brother turns himself into a chair. Here is Ali attempting the feat, ha!
My Freshman year of High School I remember reading the "classics"
Romeo and Juliet; Of Mice and Men; Animal Farm; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
Kaleb and Noé have read strange "modern" works
Purple Hibiscus; Never Let Me Go; and soon they will start their 4th title- The Visit.
Art and Literature can be great teachers and have such power to uplift and inspire. They can also just be weird, ha ha!
