Pakenham

We finally made it to Pakenham for our 11th summer family fun excursion, and we went for one specific purpose- to visit the General Store...

...to buy these sticky buns!  My friend, Sheila's family owns the shop and she helps out quite a bit.  The buns were just as amazing as they look!

Unfortunately (ha ha), we found a fudge shop across the street, so we had to go and visit.

They have a sign outside that says, "Be a kid in a candy store all over again."  We sure were!  We ended up buying 6 flavors to take home and share later!  We also bought corn on the cob from a corner stand that we took home to have for dinner with some polish sausages.

Pakenham is also known for its 5 arched stone bridge.  It is the only bridge like this in all of North America.  It was built in 1901 and weighs 5 tons!

Kaleb had to work all day, but the rest of the troopers had fun!

I love being near water, especially water falls!

Pakenham is a really small town, but it has 3 beautiful churches-

We found more A-framed houses like in Merrickville and Perth.

This gingerbread house was most charming.

This is the definition of a country house to me!

And this yard! That has a little stream just to the left of the trees with a make-shift bridge across as well!  I would love to live in a small town someday!
